Groton - Salvatore Anthony Amenta was born Jan. 12, 1931 in New Britain.
Sal passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 25, in the company of family and friends.
He resided for many years in the Southington/Kensington area.
Mr. Amenta had served in the Marine Corps from 1951-to1953 during the Korean War.
Sal was a hard worker who had been employed in the food service industry for many years.
He enjoyed bowling, dancing, gardening, was an avid sports fan; and always had a special love for the stock market.
His survivors include three children and their spouses, Michael and Sharon Amenta of Sebastian, Fla., Timothy and Mary Amenta of Southington, and Doreen and Daniel Keefe of Noank; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a dear friend of many years, Sarah Bakaj.
Sal was predeceased by his parents, Gusepe and Serafina Amenta; his three brothers, Joseph, Patrick and Sebastian; and the mother of his children, Georgianna M. Amenta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the St. Mary Mother of Our Redeemer Church, Groton Long Point Road. There are to be no visiting hours.
Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be directed to the Hospice of S. E. CT., P. O. Box 902, Uncasville, CT 06382.
