Suzanne Sunshine Obituary
New London - Suzanne (Curran) LaPlante Sunshine, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012.

Suzanne was born on Sept. 10, 1948, in New London, to Vincent and Virginia (Fitzgerald) Curran, who predeceased her.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Britt (LaPlante) Colom of East Lyme; and her son Chad J. LaPlante and wife, Angela M. LaPlante, of Niantic. They were the joys of her life and a source of pride and happiness.

Suzanne was a devoted grandmother to her precious grandchildren, Guillem A. Colom, Kelly M. LaPlante, and Allie H. LaPlante. They were her shining stars and although unable to be an active participant in their lives in her later years, loved them unconditionally.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, she leaves her sisters, Judith T. Harkins of Groton, Elizabeth C. Polselli of Stonington; and her brothers, William and wife, Denise Curran, of Griswold, and Dennis M. Curran of Rhode Island. Suzanne is also survived by a very special person in her life, Charles "Rusty" LaPlante Jr.

She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews who lovingly remember Aunt Sue as a fun loving, happy person, who always brought smiles to every family gathering. She treasured the friendships she made and often referenced their positive impact on her life. Clare Kanovros and Sharon Curran were two very special lifelong friends. As a resident of New London, she graduated from New London High School and was an office manager for many medical practices in the area.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, New London. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Road, Second Floor, Princeton, N.J. 08540, or autismspeaks.org.
