New London - Thomas W. Burns Jr. passed away Friday, Nov.9, 2012, at Kindred Crossing West while under Hospice care.

He was born to Thomas and Madeline Sullivan Burns on Aug. 10,1941. Thomas last worked in New London as a realtor for the Hedden Agency. He served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge in 1961. He was a member of the New London Elks Lodge #360.
Thomas was predeceased by his wife, Diane (Pisczek) Burns; and his only child, Patrick M. Burns.
He is survived by two sisters, Katherine Peters of New London and Liz Herbst of West Bloomfield, Mich.; and two brothers, Walter and James Burns of Palm Harbor, Fla. He is also survived by a nephew and several nieces; a great-nephew and great-nieces.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in New London.
The family requests donations to be made in his name go to Hospice Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
The family would like to express a thank you to the Kindred Crossings West staff for all their kindness and concern for Tom while he was in their care.
