Waterford - Vita B. Dodson passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, in Trumbull.|
She was born in St. Louis Missouri, on Aug. 15, 1927, to Howland and Lucille Buttler. She grew up in Dallas, Texas, and went to the University of Texas in Austin were she met her husband Livingston. After living around the country, they settled in Gales Ferry with their children Robert, Virginia and Reynold. She went on to get a master's degree at Connecticut College in european history. She then worked as a librarian at Mystic Seaport and Connecticut College. She has four grandchildren, Richard and Jana Dodson, and Rianna and Benson Bowers. Her husband died in 1989.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary Howland Latin of Dallas, Texas and Dorothy Angell of Columbia, Mo.
She was also predeceased by her brother, George.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 70 Cross Road, Waterford. A private burial was in Gales Ferry Cemetery and there were no calling hours.
Byles Memorial Home, New London is assisting with the arrangements.
