East Lyme - Vladislav "Walter" Galuska, 82, of West End Ave., Niantic, passed away suddenly but peacefully, Sunday morning, Aug. 12, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Czechoslovakia, the son of Franta and Frantiska Galuska. For 46 years he was the loving husband of Marie (Heliskova), who predeceased him on Sept. 25, 2002. A very talented civil engineer who designed many of the major roads and expressways in the Chicago area, Mr. Galuska was employed at Bowman, Barrett and Associates, Inc. in Chicago prior to his retirement. He was a quick witted person with wide interests in world affairs, mathematics and technology.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Eva Golden and her husband, Dennis Golden, of Avon. In the Czech Republic, he is survived by three sisters, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at St. Agnes Church in East Lyme. The service will be followed by a reception.
