Obituary Condolences

Waterford - Walter J. Amtczak Sr., 86, of 6 Deborah St., died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at Nutmeg Pavilion, New London.

Mr. Antczak was born in Chicago on Sept. 25, 1919, the son of Walter and Marie (Strzelecki) Amtczak.

He married Sally Wieczorek on Oct. 27, 1945; she died in 1999. Walter has lived in Waterford since 1981.

He served in the Army tank corps during World War II and was honorably discharged on Sept. 8, 1945. He worked as a switchman for the Burlington Railroad for 30 years, retiring in 1981.

Mr. Antczak was a member of the VFW Post #6573 and served as post commander from 1985 to 1986. He was a member of the Pinochle Club in Waterford and the Waterford Senior Citizen's Club.

He is survived by his son, Walter J. Antczak Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Waterford; a sister, Eleanor Kabinski of Chicago; two grandchildren, Keith Antczak and Stacey Wielachowski; five great-grandchildren, Evan, Bryan, and Riley Wielachowski and Emily and Audry Antczak.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Paul in Chains Church, Waterford. Friends may call this evening, Nov. 16, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London.

Donations may be made in his memory to VFW Post #6573, 382 Boston Post Road, Waterford CT 06385.
