East Lyme - William J. Stazick, 92, of 109 Chesterfield Road, East Lyme, died on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012.

William was born on Feb. 27, 1920, in Bayonne, N.J., the son of John and Gladys (Evans) Stazick. He married Wendy L. Stazick on Sept. 6, 1952. He was employed at the United Electric Supply Co. for 37 years and retired in 1986. He was also employed by the Town of East Lyme as a police officer for 37 years and retired in 1993. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy on the minesweeper USS Broadbill and participated in the invasions of Normandy and southern France. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

He is survived by his sister, Muriel Small of Boulder City, Nev.; and his two sons and their families, Jeffrey and Patricia and their children, Zachery and Casey of Castle Rock, Colo., Ronald and Wanda and their daughter, Amanda of East Lyme.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Matthias Church, 317 Chesterfield Road, East Lyme. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New London. Visiting hours will be from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, at Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Policemen's Benevolent Association, Niantic or the VFW Kari Hill Post #5849, Niantic.
