Old Lyme - Alexandra "Alice" Irene Davis, 88, of Old Lyme, passed away after complications from a fall on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010.

She was born in Old Mystic on July, 5, 1922, to the late Alexander and Helena (Symsik) Godomsky.

She is survied by her husband of 66 years, James W. Davis. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Alice is also survived by her only child, a daughter, Belinda and her spouse, Hap Murano, and the light of her life, her grandson, Erik C. Murano of Narragansett, R.I. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Burdick of Mystic; a brother, Chester Godomsky of Stonington and his spouse, Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.

A life long resident of Old Mystic and Mystic, Alice spent 18 years in Carefree, Ariz., and for the last eight years resided in Old Lyme.

She attended Stonington High School where she excelled in typing and was awarded the gold pin for being a champion typist. Alice had a very diverse career. As a young woman, she was as a nanny until World War II, when she joined the workforce at Rockwell International and Hamilton Standard Propeller. Most of her later career was spent in retail before her retirement in 1972.

Alice will always be remembered for her honesty, generosity to family and friends, sense of humor, and love of the family pets, Kramer and Kady. Her love of family continued to be the most important aspect of her life, always putting others before herself. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing, and crafting, but what she treasured most was the time with her family, especially her grandson, Erik. She also had a very special relationship with her niece, Noreen Beaudoin.
