Lucy E. Bunnell Obituary
Waterford - Lucy E. Bunnell, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, while surrounded by her loving family after a short illness.

Lucy was born in New London, on July 7, 1928, to the late Lyman and Helen (Rogers) Pond Sr. In 1948, she married her beloved husband Leonard Bunnell who predeceased her on Jan. 10, 1982. Besides her many responsibilities as a homemaker, Lucy also worked as a housekeeper at the former Fairview Convalescent Home in New London under various ownerships.

She was an avid gardener surrounding her home with beautiful flowers. She was an accomplished seamstress, upholsterer and creator of a multitude of ragdolls which she enjoyed making for virtually everyone. Lucy invented the name "family" and that was the center of her life, particularly her great-grandchildren who captivated her heart. She was also a life-long member of the Quaker Hill Baptist Church. She will be missed by her family, adopted family and myriad of friends.

Lucy is survived by her sons, John and Tammy Bunnell, Leonard "Buddy" and Deonn Bunnell, Robert and Linda Bunnell, and David and Arlene Bunnell; daughter, Cynthia and David Bunnell-Brown; brothers, Lyman and Rita Pond Jr., and Robert Pond; sisters, Dorothy Bustard, Marion Benjamin, Marjorie Fisher, Helen and Thomas Jacobs; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Richard and Miles Pond.

Calling hours/visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen, 53 Norwich-New London Tnpk., Uncasville. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home with procession to Union Cemetery immediately following.

Memorial donations may be made to Center for Hospice Care Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
