Celso Mei Obituary
New London - Celso Mei, 89, of New London, entered eternal life on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, in the comfort of his loving family.

Celso was born on Nov. 3, 1924, in Fano, Italy, the son of the late Eugenio and Lavina Mei.

He was united in marriage to the former Nora Seri on April 2, 1956, in Fano. His beloved wife survives him.

Celso worked at Electric Boat as a mason in the maintenance department, retiring after 28 years of service. Celso enjoyed going to Italy with his wife, visiting their family and friends. His greatest joys were being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a great lover of all animals especially his cat, Velveeta. He was a member of the Italian Dramatic Club in New London. He was an avid gardener, proud of the fact that he had learned the ins and outs of gardening from his earliest days in Italy. He was a perfectionist when it came to his garden. He had the best vegetables in town.

In addition to his wife of 57 years of marriage, he is survived by a daughter and son in-law, Cindy and Scott Bolling; two grandsons, Jake and Dylan Bolling; two brothers, Georgio and Italo Mei; cousin and dear friend, Carlo Mei; nephew and niece, Stephen and Donna Morrissette, who he loved very much.

He was predeceased by five siblings, Geno, Pino, Lena, Jahnna, and Gina.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday from the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. in St. Joseph Church, New London. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Waterford and East Lyme Animal Shelter, 41 Avery Lane, Waterford, CT 06385 or Connecticut Humane Society, 63 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06375 or , 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108-3272.
