Waterford - Francisco "Frank" Ruggiero, 86, of Quaker Hill, entered eternal life on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014.

He was born Nov. 28, 1927, in New London, the son of the late Aniello and Angelina Ruggiero. Mr. Ruggiero was an Army veteran of World War II. He was united in marriage to the former Alma Carradori on Nov. 30, 1957 in New London; Mrs. Ruggiero survives him.

He was employed for 30 years at the former C&S Motors. In 1968, he opened Mr. Frank's Luncheonette in Waterford and was well renowned for his grinders. He retired as service advisor from Brustolon Buick-Pontiac. Frank was an avid sports fan and participant. As manager and coach for Waterford North Little League, he coached the league's first team to a CT District 10 Championship in 1961. He later served in the Waterford Babe Ruth as president and coach.

He was an ardent Yankee fan and follower of many sports. He enjoyed golfing and worked as a ranger at Shennecossett Golf Course. Frank was a life member of the New London Lodge of Elks #360.

Besides his wife Alma of 56 years, he is survived by two children, Robert L. Eldridge and wife, Lin Feng, of Uncasville, and Dawn Ruggiero-Boch and husband, Douglas, of Waterford; two granddaughters, Kelsey and Marisa Boch of Waterford; a sister in-law, Norma White; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four siblings, Salvatore and Pasquale Ruggiero, Grace Biltcliffe and Emilia Manfredonia.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A funeral home service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by interment with military honors in St. Mary Cemetery.
