Robert M. "Spud" Madden Obituary
Norwich - Robert "Spud" M. Madden, 45, of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.

He was born on Feb. 4, 1968, in Oradell, N.J, the son of Thomas and Susan (Madden) Simons. Robert graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in 1987 and served in the U.S. Army upon graduation. He was currently employed at Foxwoods Casino as a security officer.

He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Football Giants and was a loving father, son, brother and friend to all.

Robert is survived by his parents, Susan and Thomas Simons; fiance, Ariana Campbell; his adoptive father, Daniel Sperduto; four sons, Joshua Doubleday, Robert J., Hayden, and Jared Madden; two daughters, Kaitlin and Emma Madden; three sisters, Christine (Ken) Atkins, Connie (Mike) Lewis, and Danette (Jason) Mackin; grandmothers, Amy Sperduto and Margaret Madden; uncle, John Madden; and aunt, Margaret Toscano.

A celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours.
