Carole Louise Kay Buffington Obituary
Killingworth - Carole Louise Kay Buffinton, 77, of Killingworth, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Eliot, Maine, on Jan. 12, 1937, to the late Edwin Francis Kay and Thelma Stacey Kay. She spent many of her childhood years in Portsmouth, N.H.

Carole was married on Nov. 17, 1956, she is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Leonard L. Buffinton; her sister, Betty Merrill-Burns of Spring Hill Fla.; and her brother, Wayne Edwin Kay of North Stonington. She is also survived by her four children, Melanie Gillis and her husband, Edward Gillis, of South Windsor, Brenda Annis and her husband, Richard Annis, of Voluntown, Leonard Buffinton and his wife, Greta Buffinton, of Killingworth, and Heather Spellman and her husband, Michael Spellman, of Pawcatuck; seven grandchildren, Gregory Gillis, Jennifer Annis-Clemons, Keith Annis, Cody and Kyle Buffinton, Michael and Hannah Spellman; and two great-grandchildren, Masen and Christian Clemons. Carole also leaves behind many close relatives and friends that she held dear in her heart.

Carole worked for many years at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aid. Through out the years she held many different jobs while raising her family.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, to be followed by a 7:45 p.m. prayer service, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic.
