East Lyme - Laura Vicari, 86, of 3 Center St., Niantic, beloved wife of Americus Vicari, is now in the arms of the Lord. She passed away on Feb. 4, 2014, at JFK Hospital in Atlantis, Fla.

Laura was born on Feb. 7, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of Anthony and Josephine (Florentino) Esposito.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Americus "Vic"; her daughter, Thea-Eve Vicari of Indian Land, S.C.; her step-daughter, Barbara Pollock and her husband, Leonard, of Queens, N.Y.; and a sister, Eva Mottola and her husband, Edward, of Boca Raton, Fla.
She was predeceased by her son, Alec, who passed away on Nov. 3, 2013.
Laura graduated from Washington Irving High School in New York City, majoring in art and fashion design. Laura was an ardent lover of the arts, as was Vic, and took every opportunity to travel to N.Y.C. to attend the theatre and the Met. She was an ardent supporter of the Goodspeed Opera and rarely missed a performance. She also enjoyed playing Mah Jong and attending classes of chair yoga at the East Lyme Senior Center. She was an active member of a chapter of the National Association of Investors Corp.
Laura had been a travel agent and traveled extensively. Her previous full time position before retiring, was as an assistant buyer of costume jewelry and novelties with G.C. Murphy chain for many years. She was a classy lady.
A memorial and Eucharist service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 400 Main St., Niantic. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Internment will be private.
The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Center of Hospice Care Southeast Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06320, and/or St. John's Episcopal Church, 400 Main St., Niantic, CT 06357.
