East Lyme - Mary Anne Crotty passed away peacefully on March 3, 2014, at the age of 96. |
She was born in Plainfield, on April 7, 1917, to loving parents, Ferdinand Brisson and Marie (Gladue) Brisson. She grew up in Lebanon, where she graduated from Lyman Memorial High School before attending the Hairdressing Academy in Hartford.
Mary Anne married Ralph Patrick Crotty in 1940, at St. Mary Church in Willimantic. Together they raised three children and spent 60 years together in Quaker Hill prior to his death in 2004. During that time, she was a communicant at St. John's Church in Montville, and a former member of the Konomoc Grange.
Mary Anne is survived by her three children, Marie McTigue of Old Lyme, Maureen Maiorana and husband, Joseph, of Salem, and Patrick Crotty of Quaker Hill. She is also survived by three brothers, Armand Brisson, Ernest (Bernie) Brisson, and Eugene (Clara) Brisson. She leaves eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two siblings, Albert Brisson and Coronna Brisson Hobby.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bride Brook Health and Rehabilitation Center in Niantic, for their care and support over the past two years.
Mary Anne will be missed but forever held fondly in our hearts.
The family invites you to share in her remembrance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at St. John's Church, 22 Maple Ave., Uncasville. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Uncasville. There are no calling hours.
The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
