Waterford - Euphrosine "Effie" Economou, 63, of Waterford, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014, at her residence.

She was born in New London, on June 20, 1950, the daughter of Peter Demos of Waterford and the late Photine (Millaras) Demos.

Effie had been an interior designer in West Hartford for over 30 years.

She was a member of St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church, the Ladies Philoptochos Society, St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Hartford, and the Wadsworth Atheneum Women's Committee.

Besides her father, Effie is survived by two sons, James and Paul Economou, both of Waterford; a sister, Athena Economou of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a nephew, Peter James Economou of North Brunswick, N.J.; and a niece, Alexa Rice of Palm Beach Gardens.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church, 200 Hempstead St., New London. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London.
