Montville - John Douglas Henson, 39, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
The Guest Book is expired.
He was born in Portsmouth, Va., on Nov. 14, 1974. After completing high school, John began working in the asphalt paving industry and did so throughout Connecticut for many years.
John loved being surrounded by nature. Whether it was hiking, ice fishing, hunting, archery, or camping, any excuse to be outdoors was a good one for him. He was a fan of the Giants and Red Sox and perhaps will be remembered for his infectious laughter.
He is survived by his mother, Christine and her husband, David King; his grandmother, Rose Kotula; his sister, Heather and nephew, Liam; his brother, Andrew; his special aunt and uncle, Kathy and Tom Piersa; his cousin, Tommy; and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at St. Patrick Cemetery, Uncasville. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to any local veteran's organization of the donor's choice in honor of John's appreciation of the service and sacrifices made to keep us a free nation.
The family would like to welcome family and friends to the Montville American-Polish Club, Maple Ave., Montville, following the service.
