Waterford - Robert Ryan of Quaker Hill, passed away on April 12, 2014.|
He was born Feb. 27, 1930, in Torrington, the son of the late James and Mary (Keglar) Ryan. Mr. Ryan was a Korean War veteran serving five years in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Sears and retired after 30 years as the automotive center manager in New London. In addition, he owned and operated Ryan's Package Store in Groton.
The love of his life and wife of 50 years, Marie Ryan, passed away in 2006.
Robert had a good sense of humor and his Irish wit. He was a warm and kind soul to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by three children and spouses, Christopher and Candy Ryan of Quaker Hill, Jo Anne and John Heller of Montville, Cynthia and Scot Richards of Waterford; a sister, Catherine O'Dea and family of Madison; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Ryan, Sundrene, Van, Eric, Chris, and Heidi; and a dear friend who was a great help, Bob Piontek.
All funeral services are private.
The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with his care.
