Montville - Rosemarie H. McDowell, 82, of Oakdale, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2014, while visiting family in Scottsdale, Ariz.

She was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late John and Olga Gaebler.
She was the wife of William J. McDowell Jr., who passed on Nov. 11, 2005. Her son Scott also predeceased her.
She worked for many years at the Card & Party Shop and then at 5th Avenue Card & Party in New London. After retiring, she was a longtime member of the auxiliary of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where she had volunteered for over 2000 hours, primarily on the maternity floor. She was very proud of the plaque at L+M Hospital that recognizes this accomplishment.
Rosemarie leaves behind a daughter, Karen Long and her husband, Steven, of North Stonington; her son, Christopher McDowell and his wife, Roberta, of Arizona; granddaughters, Christel Watson and Whitney McDowell of Minnesota. She also leaves a sister, Marilyn Lusk of Arizona.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, May 10, at St. John's Church, Maple Ave., Uncasville. Burial is private, and there are no calling hours.
