New London - Rose Wysoczynski, 84 of New London, entered eternal life on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.

She was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Knife Falls, Minn., the daughter of the late William and Julia (Quodonce) Shughart. She was united in marriage to Walter Wysoczynski on Feb. 1, 1950, in Sacred Heart Church, Groton. Mr. Wysoczynski died Dec. 16, 2002.

Mrs. Wysoczynski was employed at Wyman-Gordon in Groton working in the wax room repair for several years, retiring in 1985. Rose was the senior tribal elder of the Chippewa Nation in Grand Portage, Minn.

She is survived by six children, Walter W. and Virginia Wysoczynski of New London, Jacqueline and Robert Annis of Niantic, Margie and Larry Mondy of Waterford, Rose and Gary Kobelski of Oakdale, Brenda and Edwin Mejia of Uncasville and Sherri-Lynn Wysoczynski of New London; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by six siblings, William and Arthur Shughart, Florence Cooper, Evelyn Clark, Ruth Myers, Louise Burnett.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. The funeral will assemble at 9 a.m. Tuesday, and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, New London. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
