Mystic - Harold Paul Geibel of Mystic, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at home. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (McCree) Geibel.

Harold was born in Jersey City, N.J., son of the late Harry A. and Anna (Schmidt) Geibel, and was the brother of the late Joan Echols and the late Doris Alicchio.
He is survived by his only son, Dr. John Geibel and his wife, Annemarie, of Branford; two grandsons, Peter Geibel and his wife, Christina, Rainer Geibel and his fiancÃ©e, Janine.
Following his service in World War II, he returned to Mystic where he spent the remainder of his life running the family business, the historic Rossie Velvet Mill. Later in life, he worked at Electric Boat in Groton, and was chairman of the board of the Mystic Savings and Loan.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at St. Patrick's Church, Mystic, followed by a graveside service with military honors at St. Patrick's Cemetery, River Road, Old Mystic.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smilow Cancer Center, New Haven.
