Ledyard - Shozo Narita, 73, of Gales Ferry, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.

He was born in San Francisco, Calif., on April 2, 1941, the son of Masaaki and Aya Yoshinaga Narita. Shozo was married to Gail Mimms on June 5, 1964. He worked as a quality control engineer at Mistras Services in Waterford.
Shozo loved classical music and opera and played classical guitar. He was a long time supporter of the arts.
Mr. Narita enjoyed his work and was dedicated to the business started along with other former employees of EB, which was later acquired by Mistras.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Kyotaro and his wife, Rosalie, of Norwich and Tomio and his wife, Susie, of San Francisco, Calif.; his daughter, Yoneko Kanaoka and her husband, Tomoki, of Honolulu, Hawaii; his brothers, Yoshio of Red Bank, N.J. and Susumu and his wife, Jeanne, of Binghampton, N.Y.; as well as his two grandchildren, Juliana and Kaelynn, and their mother, Jeanine.
Shozo will always be remembered by his family and friends for his generosity of spirit and encouragement.
His family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at Byles Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton.
