Eula Lee Rogers Obituary
New London - Eula Lee Rogers, 87, of 19 Cedar Grove Ave,, New London, departed to eternal life on Sunday, July 27, 2014.

Eula was born on April 10, 1927, in Union City, Ga. After graduating from high school, she and her mother moved to New York City, and eventually settled in New London. Eula was predeceased by her mother, Luevina Newson.

Eula met and married Eddie Lee Rogers Sr. in Norfolk, Va., while he was stationed there in the Navy. They made their home in New London after he retired. Eddie predeceased her in November of 1994.

Eula was well known throughout the community for her good deeds and her dedication and devotion to the church. She was a member of Madry Temple for over 20 years.

Her first love was caring for her family; it brought her so much pleasure and joy. Outside the home, she was a caretaker for many prominent families within the community. She donated and contributed to many charities over the years. She was always there to lend a helping hand whenever needed.

Eula is survived by her six children, her daughters, Gaile L. Haley (Billy) and Sheryl Ned, both of New London, Bridget Anderson (Samuel) of New Haven, Naomi Rogers of Norwich; her sons, McCoy and Eddie Lee Rogers Jr., both of New London. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and other relatives in Georgia, New York, and California.

The family sends their greatest gratitude to their mother's caregiver of eight years, Beverly McKelvin. They would like to thank the staff at Kindred Crossing who provided their mother with excellent care. She was treated like family, and they loved her deeply.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the Service.

As in life, we pass through one door to have God to open up another door for us. Mother has entered through the pearly gates of heaven.
