Westerly - Barbara (Stevens) Hobart Crawford, 94, of Westerly, died peacefully at the Westerly Nursing Home on July 25, 2014. She lived a long and fulfilled life.

She attended Dana Hall Preparatory School, Smith College, and finished her education at The Garland School in Boston, marrying Aaron A. Hobart of Medway, Mass., in 1941, and later Dr. George Crawford of Essex.
She was known for her kindness to others, her ability to stay optimistic, her "open door" policy, and readiness for a good story. People gathered in her kitchen often for great food, fun, and Scrabble.
She happily raised four children, Stephanie Hobart Griffin of Stonington; and sons, Aaron A. Hobart Jr. of Old Lyme (deceased), Cyrus S. Hobart of Pawcatuck, and Geoffrey W. Hobart of Belvidere Center, Vt. In addition to her children, she leaves her wonderful grandchildren, Aaron, Ashley, Adam, Justin, Ryan, and Heather Hobart and three beautiful great-grandchildren, Ada, Quinn, and Henry Hobart. She is also survived by her stepson, Tim Crawford and his wife, Missy.
Her memorial gathering will be announced soon and held this fall for family and friends.
