East Lyme - Josephine L. Brousseau, 87, of Niantic, died on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Bride Brook Health & Rehab Center in Niantic. She was the beloved mother of four wonderful children and the wife of a lifelong, patriotic naval officer. She wore a smile that could warm your heart in an instant, and a touch that welcomed you in the sweetest of ways. She had a sweet wisdom and an amiable nature one would be most fortunate to encounter.

She was born June 22, 1927, in Boston, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Moran) Leydon.
Josephine was married to her devoted husband, Alfred J. Brousseau Sr., until his passing in January of 1993. They enjoyed a loving and happy 37 year marriage.
Josephine is survived by sons, Brian Brousseau and his wife, Karen, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Alfred Jeremiah Brousseau Jr.; her daughters, Elizabeth Brousseau of Stonington and Missy Brousseau of Westlake Village, Calif.; and her sister, Rita Mealey of Avon Lake, Ohio, She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacqueline Brousseau, Brian A. Brousseau, Kevin McNeill, and Kailey McNeill.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. in Union Cemetery, Niantic.
