Groton - Santine Teresa "Tina" Packer, 88, of Village Lane, Groton, passed away at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, on Saturday, July 12, 2014, with her grandson, William and his wife, Jacqueline, by her side.

Born Aug. 7, 1925, in Waterford, to John and Teresa (Brancato) Barberi, she attended Cohanzie Elementary School and Chapman Technical High School. She lived on Thames Street in Groton, for 59 years with her husband Ray.
Tina had worked for many years in customer service at the former Groton Drive-in Movie Theater and the former Genung's Women's Shop in New London.
Tina loved music, crossword puzzles, bowling, and sewing. She was an avid bingo player and had a passion for cooking. "You would never go away hungry at the Packer House." Tina will be especially remembered for her quick wit and spirit of adventure. She would decorate for all holidays.
Survivors include her son, Ray John Packer and his wife, Sharon, of Granbury, Texas; daughter, Linda Landry of Groton; brother, Freddie Barberi of Waterford; grandsons, William M. Landry Sr. and his wife, Jacqueline, of Ledyard, Corey Packer of Granbury, Travis J. Landry of Groton; granddaughter, Hollie Etheredge and her husband, John, of Fort Worth, Texas; great-grandchildren, William M. Landry Jr., Courtney Packer, Julia Mercer, and Austin Mercer; and several nieces and nephews.
Tina was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, John, James, Joe, and Adolph Barberi, and sister, Josephine Barberi and her husband, Ray H. Packer Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Burial will be private.
