New London - Lucille Lupica, 84, of New London entered eternal life on Jan. 31, 2011.

She was born Dec. 13, 1926, in New London, the daughter of the late Carmelo and Ursula (Conti) Purpora. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from the former Williams Memorial Institute, class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Cosmo Lupica on March 31, 1951, in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. Mr. Lupica died Jan. 2, 2000.
Lucille formerly worked for the U.S. Government at Fort Wright, N.Y. on Fishers Island during and post World War II. She was an assistant manager for Sears and later worked for Groliers Publishing Co. for a short time. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish and was a member of the St. Joseph Women's Club.
She is survived by two children, Louis N. Lupica and Joyce and her husband, Steven Pearson, all of New London; two granddaughters, Ursula Moreshead and Stephanie Rangel; two stepgranddaughters, Kerrie Pennella and Tracy Morse; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by seven siblings, Joseph, Nunzio, Samuel, and Anthony Purpora, Grace Grasso, Eleanor Smart, and Anna Purpora.
Her family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. The funeral will assemble at 9 a.m. on Saturday and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery.
