Brian Dagle Obituary
Brian was born in Albany, N.Y., on April 2, 1992. He attended St. Clements Elementary School, Flanders Elementary School, East Lyme Middle School, and graduated from East Lyme High School in 2010. He was a sophomore attending Castleton State College in Castleton, Vt., majoring in education with ambitions to teach elementary education abroad.
Brian was an avid snowboarder, rumored to hit the slopes as many as 48 times during the 2010/2011 season. He enjoyed traveling to numerous locations with his best friend, Will Calkins and family. He loved being surrounded by his family, close friends, his dogs, and his cats. He loved playing lacrosse for East Lyme High School and the Southeast Selects. He thoroughly enjoyed his summers counseling kids at East Lyme Parks and Recreation. He was a huge New England Patriots fan and enjoyed a variety of music, ultimate frisbee, hiking the Vermont mountains, and fishing.
Brian was a kind, caring, and loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was happiest when he was making others happy. His smile was infectious, and he lived his short life to the fullest. His special bond with his mother will never be broken, and his love for all who knew him will forever be in our hearts.
He is survived by his loving mother and father, Ann Irr and Paul T. Dagle; his brothers, A.J. and Matt; paternal grandparents, Timothy and Kathleen Dagle of Worcester, Mass., aunt, Donna Kaufman and husband, Charlie, aunt, Carol Ruiter and husband, Dan; uncle, Michael Dagle and his wife, Terri; aunt, Kathy Sacco and husband, Pat, aunt, Nancy Omalley; cousins, Laurie, Pamela, Amy, Michael, Ryan, Jonathan, Brianna, Kyle, Patrick, Christina, Katy, Josh, and Joey.
He was predeceased by his brother, Timothy and his maternal grandparents, Alberta and Louis Irr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at St. Matthias Church, Chesterfield Road, East Lyme. Interment will be private. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 15, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic.
Donations in his memory may be made to the East Lyme Youth Services, 45 Society Road, Niantic CT 06357.

I am compelled to write not only because Brian was such a huge part of my daughters life but he made a great impression on me. As a parent, I was always happy to talk with him when he came over, loved his sweetness & knew we'd always have a laugh. I wish he knew how many people he touched. I do not have any words that I feel appropriate, other than you raised a beautiful boy. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Although the loss of Brian has taken a brutally devastating & tragic toll on his family, friends & community we must all remember the happiness, thrills & laughter he brought to us during his time here on earth. It's so hard to celebrate his life rather than mourn over his death, but we all know that the thought of Brian was only of happiness, not sadness, which is the only way he would want us to think of him by. The happiness he held will continue to remain through our memories and unending love for him. We have all been brought together because of him. We must stabilize one another during these times of grief by always listening and constantly checking in with each other like he always did for us. I love you Brian, so much. Although it feels like this pain will never cease, just by talking to you every day my broken heart has already (although barely) began to mend, because I know you're listening like you always have & will show signs of your presence with me each and every day. I didnt know Brian very well; probably only talked to him twice in my life, but he was always such a happy person on the high school's morning show with, the cutest smile I've ever seen, on his face :) It's clear to see he has made such an impact on ELHS alone, but on the community altogether.
