Timothy Roscoe "Tim" Comfort Obituary
Groton - Timothy "Tim" Roscoe Comfort passed away on April 14, 2012, in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 95, Exit 86, at 48 years of age.

Tim was born Dec. 12, 1963, in Warrensburg, Mo., to Everett "Joe" Joseph Comfort and Barbara Ann Comfort. Tim grew up in Montana and attended grade school in Clinton, Mont., and high school in Missoula, Mont.

Tim joined the U.S. Navy out of Missoula, Mont., in June 1988 and served until 1998, leaving with the rank of chief petty officer to be nearer his family. After leaving the Navy, Tim worked as a defense contractor for EG&G, serving the Navy submarine fleet. Tim joined the Connecticut Army National Guard in June 2000 and worked full time as a recruiter and electronic avionics technician until his passing.

Tim was an avid motorcyclist and melded his hobby with his strong sense of community service. As a member of the Freedom Riders, Tim worked to raise money for local charities and community events. As a member of the Submarine Veterans, Tim worked to assist veterans in need and worked at the annual Thanksgiving Day dinner. As a member of the Patriot Guard, Tim served to ensure those who had fallen or were returning from overseas service were greeted with respect and dignity.

Tim was a man of honor, commitment, responsibility, service, and family. To be his friend meant you always had someone to lend a hand. Tim was devoted to his four children and their well being was his foremost concern.

Tim is survived by his parents, Joe and Barbara Comfort; wife, Diana Comfort; children, Lilyann, Alex, Rose, and William; siblings, David Comfort, Elaine Waldher-Comfort, Annmarie Garrigus-Comfort, and Michael Comfort.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 20, at Groton Heights Baptist Church, 72 Broad St., Groton, with a ceremony at SubVets following the memorial service to honor Tim. Tim will be interned at a private family service in St. Mary Cemetery, New London.
