Westerly - Michael J. Duggan, 60, beloved husband of Bonnie (Shirosky) Duggan, of Wetomachick Ave., Westerly, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at his home.|
Born in Waterford, he was the son of Marie Duggan Heffernan and William Heffernan of Gulf Port, Fla. and the late Joseph J. Duggan. Mike was the owner and operator of Duggan Painting. He was a very talented musician who played many instruments and was a member of the band "The Blarney Stone". He was an accomplished singer and songwriter who also loved to play golf and was a big New England sports fan. His sense of humor and ability to make people smile will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves a daughter, Molly A. Duggan of Westerly; seven step-children, James, Donald, Nicole, Kaitlyn and Samuel Dorsey, all of Florida, Stephanie Francis of Brockton, Mass., and Lauren Turner of Westerly; two brothers, Steve Duggan of Waterford, and Kevin Duggan of N. Kingstown, R.I.; five sisters, Patricia A. Necoechea of Tampa, Fla., Rosemary Vuono and Karen M. Johnson, both of Westerly, Mary E. Haverly of Narragansett, R.I., and Debra J. Nichols of Exeter, R.I.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Sean M. Duggan.
Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Memorial Service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, in St. Joseph Church, 17 Squire St., New London. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward a scholarship that will be offered in Michael's name to benefit a student pursuing a career in music. Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 83, Westerly, R.I. 02891.
