Raymond Pineault Obituary

Montville - Raymond P. Pineault, 68, of Uncasville, died unexpectedly at The William W. Backus Hospital on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012.

He was born in Norwich, on Dec. 18, 1943, to the late Edward and Aline (LaCombe) Pineault. Raymond worked for 32 years as a machinist technician at the Naval Underwater Sound Lab, until his retirement. Thereafter, he worked for the Mohegan Tribe for nine years, and then part-time with a job he loved at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

He was married to Marie A. (Strickland) on Aug. 1, 1964, in New Hampshire. She survives him.

He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus for over 45 years, a member of the Maennerchor Club, and a faithful member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Norwich. Ray loved Christmas, decorating with many moving figurines and lights, and Easter, when he would hide hundreds of eggs for family to find, but most of all, he loved his family and was deeply loved by them.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Raymond Pineault Jr. and wife, Allyson; daughters, Aline Soulor and husband, Anthony, Michelle Caron and husband, Kevin, and Sandi; brothers, William and Richard "Jerry"; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Edward and a sister, Victoria.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 181 Elizabeth St., Norwich. Burial will immediately follow at Fort Shantok Burial Ground in Uncasville. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Toys for Tots at www.toysfortots.org or Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.

The Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen is entrusted with these arrangements.

Dear Marie and Family
My sincere condolences to you and your family. I was a secretary of Ray's at the Naval Underwater Sound Lab for many years. Ray was a very dedicated co-worker, friend, prefect gentleman, and a very hard worker who help protect our country by his very dedicated work. He did LOVE the Christmas season and helped me decorate our halls at the Sound Lab. Ray loved his family and would share many stories of his children and grandchildren, who he loved dearly. Ray's smiles will be missed by all that had the pleasure of really knowing him. Ray also will be missed and remembered by many of us at our yearly reunions. May all those happy cherished memories help sustain your family in the days and weeks ahead.
