Waterford - Paul Beletsky of Waterford, beloved husband for 71 years of Lucille (Amarone) Beletsky, died Feb. 8, 2013, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

Paul was the loving father of Anthony and Marguerite "Pinky" Beletsky and the late JoAnn Karalus; brother of the late Ann Beletsky, Nadia Small, Michael Beletsky, and Wasil Poleshek; grandfather of Paul (Christina) Beletsky, Melissa Greco, Ronald (Lauree) Karalus, and Michael Beletsky; great-grandfather of Harley Hope Beletsky, Brynn and Katelyn Day, Hannah and Ryan Karalus; and father-in-law of Ronald Karalus.

Paul was born in Ansonia, on Oct. 3, 1922, to the late Anthony and Ewderka (Poleshek) Beletsky. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with Company "D" 26th Infantry and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged, he began a career as a tool maker at Avco-Lycoming (Textron), where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of UAW Local 1010. Paul enjoyed spending time with family and friends where he was known as Mr. Fixit, was a fan of UConn women's basketball, the New York Yankees, gardening, and fishing.

His funeral will leave at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the Iovanne Funeral Home Inc., 11 Wooster Place, New Haven, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m in St. Michael's Church, New Haven. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.Visiting hours will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
