Beverly Scovish Obituary

Montville - Beverley J. Scovish, 76, of Old Colchester Road, died on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

On Dec. 24, 1936, she was born at the family home in Uncasville, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Lazuk) Krysiewicz. Beverley was a lifelong resident of Uncasville and was the loving wife of Walter J. Scovish Sr., who predeceased her on Aug. 13, 1991.

For many years she was employed as a chef at Connecticut College and had been a parishioner of St. John Church her entire life. To try to describe Beverley in a limited amount of words in not easy. She was the type of person who left a lasting impression from the first time you met her. She had a wonderful gift of being able to connect with everyone and made you feel like she had known you her whole life. She wasn't afraid to speak her mind no matter where she was or who she was talking to, even if it was in the middle of Wal-Mart, which by the way was one of her favorite places to go.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed the outdoors, bird watching, solving crossword puzzles, watching comedy shows on television and liked the color blue. For many years she enjoyed watching her sons race motor cross and was always very supportive of them. She was a great mother and loving "Gaga" to her grandchildren, but most of all she was always there for you with good advice or to counsel you through a difficult time. She had an incredible sense of humor and always provided lots of fun and laughter. She will forever be missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her son, Joseph J. Scovish and wife, Doreen, of Oakdale; two grandchildren, Tiffany and Zachary Scovish; two sisters, Shirley Prentice and husband, Richard, and Darlene Buckley and husband, Bill; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Walter Sr., she was predeceased by her son, Walter J. Scovish Jr.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at St. John Church in Uncasville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. John Church, 22 Maple Ave., Uncasville, CT 06382.

Woyasz & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I very sorry to hear of Bev's passing. She was one of my favorite customers at the bank. She was quite the spitfire but that's what I loved about her. During my 7 years at the bank I got to know her well and she always asked about my kids and wanted to see pictures. I will miss out little chats ( that I swear could go for hours if not for other customers.) May she rest in peace now. To her family I am so very sorry for your loss.

I enjoyed reading about Beverley, in particular, the details about speaking her mind in Walmart and liking the color blue. I've added some paragraphs to my obit blog at http://ninalentinislifewithoutend.blogspot.com/. She is in good company there! You have my sympathy for your loss.
