Groton - Mario Clifford Davis, 55, of 301 Buddington Road, Groton, passed away on Saturday evening, Oct. 26, 2013, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.

He was born in Bethesda, Md., on May 24, 1958, the son of Clifford DeWayne Davis (deceased) and Anna Maria Caiano-Davis of Newport, Maine. Mario served in the U.S. Army and was a mechanic and tow truck driver in the Groton area.
He is survived by three children, Clifford Davis of Danielson, Daniel Davis of Las Vegas, Nev., and Stephanie Davis of New London.
He was predeceased by his youngest son, Alexander Davis on Aug. 8, 1999.
His step-children are Jennifer Dixon of Waterford, Michael Rogers III of Virginia, and Katie Smith of Norwich. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Davis of Monmouth, Maine, Antonio Davis of Brownstown, Mich., and Mark Davis of Newport, Maine. He also had twelve grandchildren.
Mario lost a short and difficult battle with a rare form of renal cancer. His tenacity and will to live were awe inspiring. He fought courageously until his final breath. His short life touched so many and he will be greatly missed. His strength and determination will continue to live on in his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the Byles Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Interment will be private.
