Sioux Falls, S.D. - Harold Alden Watrous, 66, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, in Sioux Falls.

Harold was born Sept. 1, 1947, in New London to Jennie (Chesbro) and Elisha Watrous of Ledyard. He attended Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, graduating in 1965. He graduated from Barrington College in 1969, with a bachelor of arts degree in English.
Harold served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1974, stationed at Pearl Harbor. While stationed in Hawaii, he met Carole Resler. The two were married on Dec. 23, 1974, in Honolulu. The couple moved to St. Paul, Minn., where Harold attended Luther Theological Seminary, receiving his Master of Divinity in 1979. Throughout his career, Harold served congregations in Poplar and Malta, Mont., Deer River, Minn., Lemmon, New Effington, Veblen, and Clare City, S.D. He retired from the ministry in October, 2013. He moved to Sioux Falls where he was living at the time of his death.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Brant Watrous of Seattle, Wash., and Bethany Watrous of Denver, Colo.; his brothers, Rich, Ed, and Glen Watrous; sisters, Louise Crouch and Irene Schultz; and his dear friend, Eileen Halverson of Sioux Falls.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carole.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, in Sioux Falls, with visitation this evening. Interment will be in Mt. Etna Cemetery, Mt. Etna, Ind.
