Gedeon "Jed" Pelland Obituary
Montville - Gedeon "Jed" Pelland, 92, of Uncasville, passed away on April 25, 2014, at Epoch Assisted Living on Blackstone in Providence.

He was born on July 29, 1921, in Warren, R.I., to the late Francis and Marguerite (St. Pierre) Pelland.

He married his loving wife, Laura (Martins) Pelland, on July 3, 1954, in Warren. She survives him.

Jed was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the 1st Armored Division nicknamed "Old Ironsides" in World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations from 1st May 1943 to 3rd May 1945 in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of Operations as well as a Purple Heart. He relocated to Uncasville in 1966, where he worked for 17 years as a dry cleaner for Barry's Cleaners, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the VFW and an avid bowler with the Montville Senior Bowling League.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters, Anita Pelland, Diane DeAngelis, and Theresa DelleFratte; and brothers, Roland Pelland and Raymond Pelland.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at St. John Church, Maple Ave., Uncasville. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
