Dear Garfield Family:
Bancroft School and Mr. Garfield are synonymous to me. As a "sandboxer", our tenure at Bancroft ran in parallel. It was my parents who seemed to return from the multiple events at Bancroft always with sincere accolades of "Wye" and how wonderful he was; I mostly remember his gentleness accompanied by his kind face and smiles. Those attributes went a long way! What a blessing he was to those he touched. My gratitude is unbounded for having crossed the path of Wyatt Garfield.
My sincere condolences to the family.

Dear Kitsy,
Our deepest sympathy on the deep and profound loss of Wye. He was such a good man, always willing to help someone no matter what the task was.
I will always remember shortening pants into shorts for Wye when the cuffs were worn but he didn't have the heart to dispose of them because "they were still good."
My son was so grateful to Wye for his willingness to share his woodworking shop when he was working on his Eagle project.
The Town of Princeton suffered a loss when you moved to Connecticut but now the loss is even deeper. Our deepest condolences.

Sharon and I, as do all friends of Bancroft, mourn the passing of Wye Garfield. He was a kind and generous mentor, colleague, and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He and Kitsy generously invited us to live on their beautiful and historic farm during our initial summer, while we engaged in a search for our new home.
There is no doubt that the success of Bancroft rests firmly with the leadership of Wye.
Our deepest sympathy to Wye's family!

Dearest Kitsy and clan-
Princeton is so very lucky to have had several decades of the Garfields' spirit of volunteerism and stewardship to set the standard. Wye quietly worked to preserve all that is precious to our beautiful little gem of a town. The Library especially benefitted from his handyman abilities and willingness to help with whatever task arose - always without a fuss - and never an expectation of recognition. He was just a humble man who loved to help folks in the town that he so enjoyed. And what fun he was - it was a joy to be with him! (I picture the twinkle in his eye when he would reveal the hidden figures in his ultra-fine jigsaw puzzles.)
The Princeton Land Trust would not be the success it is today without Wye's leadership. His common sense and integrity was respected by all.
Kitsy, I use your long, loving and happy marriage to Wye as an example for how I want to live my life. The lesson - keep it simple, enjoy your family and make a contribution to your community by doing what you love.
My heart goes out to you all.

Our life will always be blessed by the opportuity our son had to attend The Bancroft School in Worcester MA. Mr Garfield was Head of the School at that time. We were a lower middle class working couple both Working in Worcester, and with the help of "a new scholarship" Peter got to attend Bancroft. He learned French so well that a senior, his class size was 1! He then got a letter of appointment from Ted Kennedy to attend West Point and graduated in 1989. Thank you Wi for all the help.

Wye was one of those "giants" in my life. He hired me and it was his style I tried to emulate when I became a school Head. He was a classy man, kind, engaging, supportive, and had a marvelous sense of humor. May he rest in peace.

Dear Garfields,
My mother, Gladys Peterson, taught first grade at Bancroft during a good part of Mr. Garfield's tenure there. I still remember, though a boy then, how highly she regarded him. She considered him a valued friend.
My thoughts and prayers to you all.

Dear Kitsy and all of Wye's Family,
My prayers are with you all. Wye's kindness and wisdom touched so many. I remember, so very well, when he hired me to work at Bancroft School. Such a remarkable leader and friend. He always told us to put family first, and really meant it. He took joy in helping others and especially enjoyed working with students. He was such a positive influence in my life, and I treasure the time that I worked with him.
