Henry Mann Obituary
Hank was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Plainfield, N.J., to Anne Brower and Thomas Dewey Mann. He attended Dartmouth and Tufts University's for undergraduate and graduate work prior to receiving a medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in 1966. Upon completion of his internship in pediatric medicine at St. Raphael in New Haven, a psychiatric residency at Yale School of Medicine, and fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center, he provided psychiatric services to servicemen and their families as a major in the U.S. Air Force. Returning to Connecticut in 1973, he established a private practice in child psychiatry in addition to working for various hospitals and mental health agencies in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Most recently, he was employed by Quality Behavioral Health in Warwick, R.I.
In 1971, Hank married Nancy Mersfelder with whom he had sons, David and Michael. Very active in his boys' lives, he coached soccer in Madison, from 1980-1990. Passionate by nature, he pursued interests in cooking, gardening and piano. He married Carol Rothermel Pere in 1997, delighting in the birth of their son, Thomas, in 1998, and embracing two stepchildren, Jason and Melody Pere. In addition to Carol, Nancy, and his children, he is survived by a brother, Thomas Mann of Boston, Mass.
His family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 19 Jay St., New London.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Avalonia Land Conservancy, P.O. Box 49, Old Mystic, CT 06372.

Henry Mann was a Kind, Gentle, Peaceful and Wonderful man. He brought me out of many dark places. He saved my life and gave me a whole new outlook on life. May the Lord grant him Eternal Rest. God Bless You Dr. Mann.

It breaks my heart to hear of the passing of such a wonderful person. Dr. Mann was my son's savior. He was there for us in the darkest of times and shed light into our lives when it was most needed. My mother has always called Dr. Mann "our angel". Sore with all the other Angels now and keep shining that light on us. You will truly be missed.

I am so very sorry to hear of dr. Mann's passing. He was a wonderful person! I moved to Maine three years ago, but continued to see Dr Mann. I drive down every three months to see him...he was such a great doctor and I will miss him very much. My sincere condolences to his whole family!
