Robert Lineweber Obituary

Canterbury - Robert Joseph Lineweber, 88, of 31 Little River Lane, Canterbury, passed away on May 27, 2016, with his wife and family by his side.

Robert was born on April 20, 1928, in Derby, to Archie and Grace (Moselle) Lineweber.

Robert married the love of his life, Marjorie Frances (Marquardt), in February 1950 and together they raised seven children in Groton and Ledyard.

Bob joined the U.S. Air Force in 1946 as an bombsight maintenance engineer, where he faithfully served for three years. He then worked at Pfizer in Groton for 37 years in the caffeine department, retiring as a shift supervisor.

Bob is survived by his children, David Lineweber and Catherine Voegtlin of Hubbard, Oregon, Mark Lineweber and Ann Marie Jansen of Waterford, Gretchen and Robert Young of Canterbury, Erick Lineweber of Griswold, and Marjorie Lineweber and Tracy Brown of Ashaway, R.I. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Olenick; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert's wife, Marjorie, survived him by one day, passing away on May 28, 2016.

He was predeceased by two children, Robert Edward and Susan Linda.

Bob's life was marked by a series of interests. In the 1950s and 60s, he raised and showed Great Pyrenees dogs culminating in "Best of Breed" awards at the Westminster Kennel Club Show. In the 1970s and 80s he raised snakes and exotic reptiles; educating schools and community groups while being known as the "snake man". Later in life Bob was content with the company of several beloved Corgis and after rescuing a stray cat, turned his attention to volunteering at a local cat shelter three days a week,

A special thanks goes to our sister, Gretchen and her husband, Bob, for their timeless devotion and dedication to the care of our parents over the last 12 years.

Dear Mark, Annie and the entire Lineweber family,We would like to extend our sincere condolences in the loss of your Mom and Dad. Their life together and their passing together is a true testament of their love for each other! Their message of love was most definitely passed down; we saw this in the love and dedication your whole family gave to keep them happy, healthy and home!! You should all feel very proud! We will all keep all of you close in our thoughts and prayers especially in the difficult days ahead. Fondly, the Krajewski Family

My sincerest condolences on your double loss. Back in the 50s and 60s, my parents and yours were part of the "tropical fish club" in SE Connecticut. We'd usually visit about once a month, your place in Groton or ours in Norwich, and my brother Marty and I would go outside to play with Susan and Bobby while our parents talked fish! I went into the Marine Corps in 1964 and lost track of all that. MY parents passed in the 80s. I last spoke with your mom and dad maybe 15 years ago, and learned of Susan and Bobby's passing. But way back then, happy times. Prayers for everyone.
