Ron Miller, born August 16, 1947, suddenly passed away on November 1, 2012. He was 65 years old. Ron was born in Hartford, Connecticut and moved with his parents to Southern California when he was a small child. He primarily grew up, and went to public school, in Anaheim, near Disneyland. In 1968, he was drafted into the military. Ron proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Army, receiving training as a radio operator and translating/decoding Morse Code at Fort Bragg. Ron excelled beyond his peers, becoming the unofficial supervisor for his training class. Ron was also a very good sharpshooter, receiving the Army's sharpshooter designation for the M-14 rifle. After receiving his training, Ron went to Vietnam. In 1971, he was brought home to California due to receiving a hip fracture from being knocked off a lookout berm and was later honorably discharged from the Army. Shortly after he recovered from his injuries, Ron met the love of his life, Tina, at the Bullock's in West Hollywood, where they both worked during the 1971 holiday season. They began dating and were married in 1976. Wanting to make a life for themselves, Ron and Tina moved to La Quinta in 1976 and soon started a limo business, Country Club Limousine, which Ron continuously operated in the Desert up to the time of his death. Ron enjoyed horseback riding, boating, and reading. His creativity was remarkable and his wonderful and sometimes goofy sense of humor kept his family laughing, to the point of them rolling on the floor in laughter. Ron was always patriotic, and in the later years of his life, he lent his support to veterans and attempted to become involved in various veteran organizations. He will be forever missed by his wife Tina, son Robert and daughter Trina, father and mother-in-law Sid and Phyllis Miller, and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his mother, Millie (Frances Mildred) Garcia. Services and visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 20 at Forest Lawn Cathedral City from 10am - 12pm, followed by a brief ceremony at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:45 pm where Ron will receive full Military Honors before being buried there.
