William Stits Obituary

Bill was a super sportsman as soon as he could throw a ball. He graduated from Narbonne High, in Lomita, Calif. with a scholarship to UCLA. He was Valedictorian of his Narboone Graduating class. He played football for four years at UCLA, and in the 1954 Rose Bowl he achieved a record that has not been broken. He went on to play for the NY Giants, Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins and the SF 49er's. Bill leaves a devoted wife, Jeanie; a loving family including his brother, Joe; six nieces and nephews, two stepchildren, Terry and Ralph; three step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. He will be greatly and forever missed by all of them. There will be a memorial service at 12:30 PM, January 15, 2012 at the Center for Spiritual Living in Palm Desert, with a reception to follow.

I was also fortunate to play a lot of tennis with Bill. We were doubles partners in a few leagues. A great guy.
