Donald Barta

Donald Raymond Barta, 87, of Indio, Calif. passed away November 8, 2010. He was born to Calvin Barta and Lila Havlinek in Two Creeks, Wis. He was in the business of agriculture and was an owner of the Sun and Citrus Packing Company making great contributions to our local economy. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus, providing religious and charitable public relief works to families. He also loved to sing and belonged to the Church Choir of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH). He was a Director of the Indio Chamber of Commerce educating and providing resources to the locals and affecting the business community. Don also participated in events assisting the Boys and Girls Club Golf, inspiring and enabling young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. He is survived by his wife, Frances Vasquez Barta; five children, Cynthia Barta and Tom Barta of Spokane, Wash., and Connie Alvarez, Lupe Tijerina, and Yolanda Guillen of Indio, Calif. He was also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Don has blessed us with his joy and spirit and will be in our hearts forever. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 AM on November 18, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help located at 45299 Deglet Noor Street, Indio, CA 92201.
