Ernest Grube

1925 - 2010

Ernest (Ernie) James Grube passed away early Christmas morning, December 25, 2010. He was born in New Rochelle, N.Y. to Elizabeth and Richard Grube (deceased) on November 22, 1925. He served in the U.S. Navy and saw duty during World War II. After his time in the Navy, he worked in the liquor business, then joined the Larchmont Fire Department, New York. After retirement, he and Joan and Bob moved to Palm Springs in 1977. Ernie worked at Desert Regional Medical Center in Radiology for 25 years. He continued to volunteer his services after his 80th birthday. He leaves behind his faithful companion and partner of 39 years, Joan Wolff; his stepson, Bob Wolff; three sisters, Bea Walsh and Buddy, Ruth Green and Charlie, and Margeret Collins. His brother, Richard, preceded him in death. Ernie had many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews; everyone loved their uncle Ern, not forgetting his beloved dogs, Maxc and Brandy, who miss him everyday. Ernie never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was an avid golfer and deep sea fisherman, tried tennis too (just for Joan). He and Joan took numerous cruises and traveled to places where the fishing was good. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Joan will miss her "luv a ducks". Ernie wanted no services. His wishes were to donate his body to science; any donations would be appreciated to Animal Samaritans or your choice of any animal charities.
