To the Rubio family: Lupe was one of the good ones! He and I were in track and field together and he was always the big brother to me. He will be missed. I will always remeber the good times that me and Lupe and Syvia had together in the old neighborhood, Nelson and Shady Lane God bless him and the family.

We have known and loved the Rubio famiy for many, many years and was saddened to hear of the passing of Lupe. I happend to be a "visiting teacher" to one of his neighors who was a widow and lived alone and had health issues. She spoke often of Lupe and how helpful and kind he was. I appreciated him being so thoughtful and considerate to let me know if there was a situation concerning her I should be aware of. Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire family. Dear Sylvia and the entire Rubio family--I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your Lupe. I remember growing up with him and, of course, all the Rubio's, but I will always think of how cute you two were in high school. I will be thinking and praying for each of you. I know in my heart that Lupe was such a special guy because he had you, Sylvia, and his entire family loving him. I hope you can find some comfort knowing you'll always have him as a Guardian Angel watching over you and your family. God Bless you and the entire Rubio Family.

Lupe and I had 29 Great years together at The Gas Company, from working on a crew all night repairing leaks to helping each other out on Leak survey or testing new locator equipment. His Heart and compassion for others was unmatched. You will be greatly missed my friend, GOD Be with you! To All the family and relatives, Sylvia, Marissa and Tony may you draw strength and comfort from THE LORD!

Like everyone, we still can’t believe we’ve lost our Compa. We’re thankful that he was a big part of our lives and that we have so many memories. One of my fondest memories is how we discovered he had a big crush on my comadre; he would follow us home from the bus stop after school. He would walk a distance behind us, but there he was, every day until he finally worked up the courage to talk to Sylvia. When I would remind him of this in later years, he would always say that he wasn’t following her. Her house just happened to be on his way home. He would give me one of those charming smiles of his, but still wouldn’t admit why all of a sudden Nelson Street was on his way home. Compa was a very strong man emotionally and had a very tender heart. He may not have said much when he wanted to comfort you, but he would give you one of the strongest hugs which said so much more than words. Comadre, Marisa and Tony, we know you are heartbroken and at this time we can’t even think of any words that will comfort you. I’m sure Lupe is right there next to you now with his arms around you giving you a big hug! (Love, Lula)

Lupe and I have been great friends for 29 years. Last week I needed some help in the field, and Lupe met me. I haven't seen him in a long time so when we got out of the trucks we gave each other a big hug, and when we departed I told him to give Sylvia our love. That was my gift from Lupe.
