I was so glad I was able to see Judy at our 50th class reunion in Bellingham this fall. We had a chance to say our good-byes. Love you, Judy. You'll be singing up there in heaven.

Sean and Pat,
How fortunate John and I were to have had your mom in our lives, we have such loving and fun memories of our times together. Your mom and I being the grandmothers to Katarina and Dakota had so many very special moments together and those moments I will always hold near and dear in my heart. John and I will truly miss her.
Sean and Pat bless your hearts for taking such good care of your mom, you were with her every step of the way through her illness.
I know she certainly loved you boys.
We will always love and care about you both.
Love John and Donella

THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO PASS THROUGH YOUR LIFE LIKE A GENTLE BREEZE WHO MAKE CONTACT AND THEN ARE GONE. THEN, THERE ARE ARE THE ONES WHO PASS THROUGH YOUR LIFE AND DECIDE THEY AREN’T LEAVING. THEY COME TO KNOW YOU, THEY CARE ABOUT YOU, AND THEY LOVE YOU. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT GIVE MEANING TO LIFE. JUDY DOUGHERTY WAS ONE SUCH PERSON IN MY LIFE.

HAD ANYONE ASKED JUDY WHAT HER FINEST LEGACY TO THE WORLD WOULD BE, SHE WOULD NOT HESITATE TO SAY, “MY FAMILY”. SHE WAS VERY PROUD OF HER BOYS, SEAN AND PATRICK, WAS DEVOTED TO HER GRANDCHILDREN KATERINA AND DAKOTA. WHILE EACH HAS NOW LOST A LINK TO THE PAST WITH JUDY’S PASSING, I HOPE THEY FIND COMFORT IN KNOWING THEY WILL ALWAYS BE HER HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.

JUDY NEVER GOT TO REAP THE BENEFITS OF A LIFE WELL LIVED. SHE WORKED OUTSIDE THE HOME AFTER THE BOYS WERE OLD ENOUGH AND ONLY QUIT WHEN JERRY BECAME ILL. SHE STOOD BY HIM EVERYDAY OF HIS ILLNESS AND WHEN HE DIED, A BIT IF HER DID TOO. IT’S COMFORTING TO REALIZE THAT THEY ARE REUNITED ONCE AGAIN.

I’VE KNOWN JUDY FOR MOST OF MY ADULT LIFE. IT’S HARD TO SAY WHAT MAKES A GOOD FRIEND, BUT I CARED DEEPLY FOR JUDY AND SHE WAS MY BEST FRIEND. OUR PERSONALITIES JUST CLICKED AND SHE WAS FUN TO BE WITH. SHE ALWAYS MADE ME FEEL GOOD ABOUT MYSELF AND I ENJOYED HER SARCASTIC, FUNNY PERSONALITY AND NEVER MINDED THAT SHE WAS READY TO SHARE HER OPINIONS WHETHER I WANTED TO HEAR THEM OR NOT.

JUDY HAD A VERY STYLISH FLARE. HER HOME WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO HER AND IT TRULY WAS A REFLECTION OF HER.

I ALWAY ADMIRED THAT JUDY WAS SO DEVOTED TO THOSE SHE LOVED. SHE LOVED PEOPLE AND FRIENDS WERE VERY IMPORTANT.

SHE NEVER LIVED LIFE WONDERING WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN, AND WAS PROUD OF HER LONG AND LOVING MARRIAGE, HER BOYS AND GRANDCHILDREN.

WE’VE STOOD BY JUDY IN RECENT TIMES AS SHE LOST THOSE SHE LOVED. JERRY DIED IN JANUARY 2007 AND LOST HER SISTER TWO WEEK LATER. THEN SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER. SHE NEVER REALLY HAD A CHANCE TO MOURN THEIR PASSING BECAUSE SHE’S BEEN FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE. IF WE FIND COMFORT IN HER PASSING, IT’S TO BELIEVE THAT SHE’S FREE FROM THE PAIN SHE KNEW ON EARTH AND TO BELIEVE THAT SHE’S REUNITED WITH THOSE SHE LOVED.

REST WELL MY DEAREST FRIEND. THE WORLD WAS A BETTER PLACE WHEN YOU WERE IN IT.

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.
