Larry Coons Obituary

Larry Coons, 65, of Indio, Calif. passed away on September 17, 2010, at the Eisenhower Medical Center, Rancho Mirage, Calif. of Multiple Myeloma. He was born January 18, 1945 to Russell A. and Marjorie Coons in Greencastle, Ind. He met his wife, Monna Brown in 1964 and they were married June 12, 1965 at the First Christian Church in Greencastle, Ind. Larry and Monna had a loving relationship for 45 married years. Larry was involved in the Boating/ Marine industry for 35 years, including owning a marine distribution company. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Monna; two sons, Robert W. Coons and wife Jennifer, Brent A. Coons and his partner Tasha Berg, both of San Francisco, Calif.; two brothers, Russell L. Coons and wife Alberta, Okeechobee, Fla., Douglas G. Coons and wife Pam, Fillmore, Ind. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Larry was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all that knew and loved him. A memorial celebration of life is pending and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the JimmyV Foundation for Cancer Research, www.jimmyv.org.

Sis, Rob/Jennifer, Brent/Tasha....You are in our thoughts and prayers. I am so glad that I made it out to see Larry three weeks before his death; it was such a good visit and I will always cherish the time I had with him. Love you guys!

I will miss conversing with my friend via e-mail and phone no matter that we would miss some time, then write pages or spend an hour on the phone. Although we never traveled in the same social circles we had lots in common and could straighten out the worlds problems with ease.
