Lois Smith Obituary

Lois Adell Smith (Mom), born the 2nd of December, 1930 at Stoddard, Wisconsin, daughter of Rev. Immanuel and Ethel Brackebusch, was called home by the Lord on December 16, 2010. Mom was raised in a strong Christian household in Detroit and started her young adult life working for the government in Washington D.C. After residing in Chicago and Milwaukee, she moved to Orange County California in 1974, and to the Desert in 1990. Mom was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Indio-LCMS and enjoyed serving the Lord through regular worship, bible study, volunteering and fellowship of others. She raised her five children by herself overcoming numerous obstacles in life. Mom enjoyed reading the bible and would do so each day. She loved animals, especially her cat Fluffer, dancing to her favorite music, and sharing her day with friends and family. Mom had a wonderful sense of humor with a smile and laugh that was contagious. Her generosity of kindness to others was enormous. She was a woman of principle, governed always by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mom was a true Christian woman, loved and highly respected by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her loss her five sons, Robert Paul and Marie, Stephen David, Peter Martin and wife Rosa, Mark Immanuel, James Leo, and her four grandchildren, Kelsey Lois, Jessica Kayla, Clayton Henry, and Robert James (RJ). A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church of Indio-LCMS on January 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Mom's Life.

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from hence-forth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

Losing your mother is one of the saddest events in a person's life. I lost my mother six years ago and I miss her every day. My heart goes out to her sons, my cousins. God bless Lois.

When I heard that Lois had passed, my heart was deeply saddened. Lois was a wonderful, kind and considerate person. I loved her and I take great comfort in knowing that she loved me too. My heartfelt condolences to the family; you are in my prayers daily. May God's grace strengthen you always.

I am a friend of Lois' son, Mark. He is a gentle, peaceful, generous and kind person. This must be a reflection in part, of Lois' life. I read that she is a believer in God and that she placed her faith in Him.

My sympathies to her family who continue on, here on earth. Also, my happiness that you will be reunited with her one day. She did not die. She simply ceased to resist the changing of form and now lives as a new body, one in spirit with God. ~Gerean, Ashland, Oregon
