Marcia Weber Obituary

Marcia Jean Weber of Palm Desert, Calif. died on Sunday, November 21, 2010. She was born May 29, 1926 in Kenosha, Wis. to Arnold and Mabel Rowe. She was 84 years old. She graduated from Mary Bradford High School in Kenosha in 1944 and attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from Pasadena Nazarene College in 1966. Marcia enjoyed her school days playing violin in the orchestra, following her scoutmaster father's lead into Girl Scouting, and spending summers with her grandparents on the upper peninsula of Michigan. While at Wheaton she met Robert Donald Weber. They were married on August 14, 1948 and lived in Milwaukee, Wis., Wheaton, Ill., Altadena, Calif., Tulsa, Okla., Lake Forest, Ill., and Spokane, Wash. In 1976 they moved to the Coachella Valley. Marcia served as an elementary school teacher in Lake Forest and Spokane. Upon moving to the Coachella Valley she worked in the human resources department of Eisenhower Medical Center. In retirement she focused on her almost daily tennis match and planning her next motor home trip to visit and care for her grandchildren. She shared her passion for tennis, played games with them, could be counted on for an ice cream treat and many stories. She also enjoyed traveling in Europe. Marcia also appreciated serving as a deacon and participating in the life of Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Don, of Palm Desert, Calif.; son, Robert (and Aletta) Weber of Cambria, Calif.; son, David (and Tally) Weber of Carlsbad, Calif.; son, Richard (and Betty) Weber of Bermuda Dunes, Calif.; and son, Stephen (and Cindy) Weber of Mount Vernon, Wash.; grandchildren, Erica Weber, Angela Weber, Luke (and Leah) Weber, Aaron Weber, Melissa (and Michael) Chehade, Justin Hailey, Samuel Weber, Laura (and Brandon) Burfeind, Zoe Weber, Jeffrey Weber and Hannah Weber; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Destiny Bell and Eliza Chehade; brother, Kenneth (and Loretta) Rowe of Richmond, Va.; niece, Jean (and Warren) Becker of Thomasville, Ga.; nephew, John (and Carol) Carnell of Santa Maria, Calif. and Mark (and Carroll) Rowe of Wilmington, Del. She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Shirley Duvall. A service of committal will be held at 11:15 AM on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at Riverside National Cemetery and a Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church. Don and Family, I worked with Marcia in Human Resources at Eisenhower from 1984 until she retired. I was so sorry to read of her passing. She was such a wonderful person. She was passionate about her family, always proudly adding the picture of each new grandchild to her "collection" on her desk. I remember hearing how you would heat your swimming pool right before Christmas so all the family could enjoy it while they were there. I am so glad I had the opportunity to know Marcia and have her as a friend. My sympathy and love to all of you.
