Mary Moreno Velasquez

Mary Moreno Velasquez, 89, of Coachella, Calif. died of natural causes on October 16, 2010. She went peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born on March 27, 1921 in Thermal, Calif. to Elvira Moreno. Mary worked as a date grader, then as a supervisor for Cal-Date Tenneco and Dole for 33 years. As a young woman she was a member of the Guadalupanas of the Catholic Church in Coachella. She was a caring person and loved her family very much. She will be missed dearly. She is survived by her son, Sal (Jennie) Velasquez of Coachella; four grandchildren, Andrew Velasquez, Albert Velasquez both of Coachella, Paul Velasquez of Indio, Calif. and Diane (Al) Sandoval of Cathedral City, Calif. She also had ten great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Salvador R. Velasquez; and great-granddaughter, Breana Velasquez. Friends may call for visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Indio on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at the hour of 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM with a Mass to be said at the hour of 12:30 PM, Friday, Oct. 22, 2010. Interment will follow at the Coachella Valley Cemetery. The family wants to thank the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice and staff for their loving care and support of their mother.
