Gary, Jerry, Sharon and Charles....
Your dad was such a gentle soul, so kind with a quick smile and good word. His legacy lives on through all of you and his grandchildren, the many people who were led to Christ under his preaching and the friends he made along the way. We will all miss him so much.

I loved Odis very very much. Our families met when I was just 11 months old. For many years I really thought we were related but even when I found out we were not blood related we still loved them like our family. I always called him Dad cause I spent so much time with them growing up. His daughter Sharon and I were best friends for many years. I know this is a sad time for the entire family but there is peace in knowing he is in the arms of Jesus and with his beloved wife Elnora once again. Also I am sure my dad met him at the gate and had a cute joke or story to share with him. (smile) This is not goodbye this is see ya later Dad Gayler. Hugs Judy

Mom and Dad Gayler came to the Coachella Valley just after they were married in 1940. At that time, there was little between Indio and Palm Springs. They spent nearly 20 years here raising a family and watching the community grow. Dad was called to preach during that time and gave his life to the ministry. He touched many lives with the word of God and lived what he preached. Dad was called to pastor Missionary Baptist churches in the Orange County area and moved to Fullerton. They lived there and touched many lives for over 20 years. During this busy time Dad worked for the Lord as a pastor and worked as a carpenter. After he retired as a carpenter, he and mom moved to Beaumont where he pastored a Missionary Baptist church for another 10 years. Because he was finally retired from secular work, dad took up golf and loved to golf with a group of preachers weekly. When dad felt he was no longer able to preach, he moved back here to the Coachella Valley to be close to all of his family. He and mom lovingly adored each and every one of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, making each one feel uniquely special. Each life that Odis Gayler touched was filled with the love of God as he taught the scriptures wherever he went. I feel very blessed to have been his daughter in law and had him in my life for 34 years. He will be sorely missed as he brought great joy into my life.

Brother Odis Gayler will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His life is one that we all should follow. His love for his Saviour, his church, his family, his friends and his country sets am example for all.
My prayer is that God will bestow rich blessings on his family.
